If you have been arrested

Having representation at the police station is critically important to the potential outcome of your case. Everyone has the right to legal advice, and utilising this right can make the difference between being charged or released, and to mitigating court charges further down the line.

Alexander Bennett Solicitors has a wealth of experience in protecting and supporting clients at this crucial stage and will help you achieve the best possible outcome following your arrest.

If you contact us, we will travel to the police station and be by your side throughout the interview, no matter the time of day or night. We will advise you of your rights and entitlements, including whether to speak, provide a statement or make no comment.

It is your legal right to obtain free legal assistance during a police interview and you should always exercise this right.

Everyone has a right to legal advice and securing it can make a tangible difference to the progress of your case. Our police station representation service is free and available 24-hours a day, so that clients can benefit from immediate police station representation.

We take pride in being able to represent our clients in any police station, throughout the country, but are regularly in attendance at the following:

  • Luton Police Station
  • Milton Keynes Police Station
  • Kempston Police Station
  • Northampton Criminal Justice Centre
  • Weekly Wood Criminal Justice Centre
  • Hatfield Police Station
  • Stevenage Police Station
  • All police stations in Greater London
  • All police stations in Central London

Voluntary Interview

If you have been asked to attend a voluntary interview at the police station, you should contact us at the first possible opportunity. Whilst you will not be under arrest, what you say under caution can greatly affect the outcome of your case. Should you refuse to attend a voluntary interview, or fail to attend one that has been arranged, this could give the police grounds to arrest you.

After initial contact, we will make sure that the interview is booked or moved to a convenient time for you. We will obtain information as to why the police want to interview you so that you can be fully prepared for your appointment. We will also advise you about what to expect on the day.

At a voluntary interview, you have the right to leave the interview at any time but this right should only be exercised after taking advice from a solicitor. Whilst a voluntary interview can feel far less formal than an arrest, it is just as serious and it is critical that you are represented before, during and after your appointment.

Know your rights

The terminology used during and after an arrest can be complicated and lead to clients feeling overwhelmed, confused, and stressed. We are passionate about providing clear, jargon-free advice, helping individuals around the UK to navigate and respond appropriately to their arrest.

Though you may be informed otherwise, having a solicitor does not delay your release; in many cases, it ensures that your police interview will take place sooner. If you are aware that police may speak to you regarding an offence, it can even be beneficial to obtain solicitor support prior to your arrest.

Requesting for Someone Else?

Our experienced criminal defence solicitors are able to represent individuals, if we have been requested to do so, by a friend, relative, or partner. Being arrested is difficult, not only for the individual concerned, but also for those around them.

Alexander Bennett Solicitors work on cases up and down the country and are equipped to help you and your loved ones establish the strongest defence possible.
